Over 115,000 film fans worldwide have been adding all the movies they’ve seen from the year onto their Flickcharts and pitting them head-to-head against the best movies of all time. The following list is the product of those rankings – generating a combined list of the best movies of 2011 that are ranked the highest by each and every Flickchart user.
Don’t forget too that once you’re there, you can further filter the list to get the best of 2011 combined with any of your favorite actors, directors, genres, and franchises. If they seem in need of rearrangement, you can also rank any of these combinations and make sure the 2011 films you’ve seen are in just the right order on your list. Remember, if you watched and ranked these movies on your Flickchart, you helped to create this list! The higher your favorites of 2011 are on your list, the more you’ll be influencing their positions. If you haven’t yet, be sure to rank your favorites of 2011 to make changes to this list for the future!
You can expect some major new features to arrive early in 2012, so keep your eyes peeled for some amazing things yet to come for Flickchart!
Without further adieu – out of 807 total movies released this year – here is your Top 20 of 2011:

Flickcharters have been busily ranking over the past months – both the old and the new – and we have up-to-the-minute results on which movies in 2011 have climbed the charts to sit atop the list as the best of the summer. Read below for statistics of some of the summer’s best ranked films, along with some thoughts on each of them from several of our regular contributors here at the blog. Read the rest of this entry »
As many of you may know or have heard, the website MovieWeb.com revealed a feature named “Face-Off” on Saturday, April 16th with a descriptive blog post, “Movie Face-Off Is Here!“. We were alarmed to discover that this feature was not a unique take on ranking or rating films, but instead a rather obvious duplication of the concept, functionality, user interface, and formatting of Flickchart.
For the South By Southwest Film Festival this year, we wanted a way for moviegoers to be able to rank the films as they watch them at the festival. So we’ve dusted off the cobwebs on our mobile version of Flickchart we designed for the iPhone way back in July of 2008 (in about a week’s time), and put a fresh new coat of paint on – in addition to killing several long standing bugs (no more crazy flipped Charts or breaking Haven’t Seen buttons!). We’re now running on a new framework that should be faster, more stable, and a little easier on the eyes – especially for those of you on a nice Retina Display on iPhone 4.
Meet “Flickchart Mobile” – our new simpler name, as our framework should now allow the web app to function well on iPhone, Android, Palm, Blackberry, etc. Just visit http://mobile.flickchart.com on your mobile device, and you’ll be on your way.

For you SXSW folks, there’s a special button in the top right that’s just for you – which will allow you to rank just the movies showing at the festival while you’re on the go. You can also check to see what’s currently the Top 20 ranked movies of SXSW via the Charts view.

We’ve also got a nice new look for Charts, with director details and movie posters to go along with them. For those unfortunate souls who haven’t signed up for Flickchart yet, you can even now register a new account right on the mobile site. Huzzah!
For anyone who’s a longtime mobile user of Flickchart, and especially for those of you not on iPhones out there, please report back and let us know if there are any bugs that need squashing for your particular handheld device. As always, we’ve got more in store for the future of mobile Flickchart (an app in the ‘ol App Store might be on the horizon with features a’plenty). In the meantime, please enjoy the new improvements!
